Since the age of 12, Robert Smith has competed in various races and has experienced every high and low while being a runner. After college, Robert entered the real world and quickly realized he didn’t want to leave running behind, so he opened the doors of Robert’s Running and Walking Shop in Huntington, West Virginia during November of 2006. It was a challenging time for the community while national statistics labeled the city of Huntington as the unhealthiest city in America which brought national attention. Robert was encouraged to make a difference and to give back to a city and community that had taught him so much.

In 2010, Robert’s Running and Walking Shop opened their second location in Charleston, West Virginia and has become the regions source for running and walking needs. They were recently named one of the 50 Best Running Stores in in the US by Competitor Magazine in 2013 and 2019. Along with serving the community through various store events, they also assist with the Marshall University Marathon and a number of other races and events in the Tri-State. The store also provides training classes and programs for beginner runners and walkers. This November, Robert’s Running and Walking Shop will celebrate their 17th Anniversary and has no signs of slowing down!
